The Team

Working hard behind the scenes to bring an extraordinary vision to fruition.

Bringing teamwork to life

Paradise is an exemplar of public-private partnership delivering real economic value to a city and region. The Paradise Birmingham partners have all worked tirelessly to bring about a transformational development that will contribute jobs and inclusive growth to the city and its citizens for years to come.

MEPC took over the developer-manager role from Argent in July 2021 to deliver Phases Two and Three, retaining the team that have so successfully brought the project to fruition. Federated Hermes is the private sector investor working together with Birmingham City Council and Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership as public delivery partners.

As part of Federated Hermes, MEPC has a long track record of working together to create destinations where community can flourish.

Paradise forms part of MEPC’s growing portfolio of inventive and sustainable places, each one crafted with the future in mind, designed with a social heart, and delivered with passion.

  • Federated Hermes.

Federated Hermes is the private sector funder of Paradise and is an asset manager with a difference. It believes that, while its primary purpose is helping beneficiaries retire better by providing world class active investment management and stewardship services, its role goes further.

It believes it has a duty to deliver holistic returns – outcomes for clients that go far beyond financial performance and consider the impact decisions and investments have on society, the environment and the wider world.

  • Birmingham City Council.

The council’s vision for the future of Birmingham is for a place of inclusive growth, in which every child, citizen and neighbourhood matters – a great city to grow up and grow old in, where people are healthier, communities grow stronger, and decent housing provides a strong foundation in which to raise families and build careers.

Recognising the potential of its city centre landholding led the council to establish the Paradise Birmingham Joint Venture in 2013 to bring forward the Paradise scheme as the UK’s largest city centre redevelopment project.

  • Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership.

Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership has three strategic priorities to position Greater Birmingham as a leading, global city region by 2030; to become a world leader in innovation and creativity, to exploit the region’s role as an international gateway, and to spread opportunity and prosperity to all sections of society.

The city centre Enterprise Zone (EZ) is the largest of its type in the country and has the potential to create 40,000 new jobs, add £2 billion a year to the local economy and make available 1.3 million square metres of new floorspace over the lifetime of the project.
