Vision
Creating a new piece of city
The most important development in a generation
Paradise marks the latest chapter in Birmingham’s compelling history, a place rich in heritage and charm, and a new destination for the city. In the past, it was a place where arts, learning and commerce flourished side by side, and this latest incarnation sees it inspiring a new generation of visitors, residents, thinkers and doers.
The £1.2bn development of Paradise has seen the civic heart of the city transformed, bringing new life to some of its most cherished heritage buildings, and creating a vibrant new location that is attracting new businesses, jobs and visitors to the city.
A place for everyone
The redevelopment of Paradise has successfully brought a new urban neighbourhood to life in the heart of Birmingham, giving the city a new central location that is buzzing with the best that this thriving, multicultural and youthful metropolis has to offer.
Its work environments are exceptional, intricately designed to meet the constantly evolving needs of modern work life. And, by creating a vibrant hub with popular event spaces, squares, restaurants, and cafes, it provides leisure-seekers with a place to socialise and be seen; a place for whiling away an hour alone, catching up for an evening with friends or enjoying a day out with the family.

The Masterplan
The Paradise masterplan comprises eight individually designed new buildings and three new squares set in outstanding public space. Accessibility and connectivity are at the heart of the plan, opening up new vistas and pedestrian routes across the city.
Paradise is to be completed over three phases, the first two of which have delivered 800,000 sq ft of offices across four buildings and associated public realm including the revitalised Chamberlain Square, together with The Octagon, the world’s first pure octagonal high-rise residential tower
Phase three will deliver a 198-bed hotel, Ratcliff Square and Western Terrace public realm, and a further 600,000 sq ft of offices around a new public square.

The future of Paradise
As development progresses, there is plenty to anticipate as Paradise continues to grow. Two new public spaces, Ratcliff Square and Congreve Square, are set to offer attractive locations for leisure and relaxation, while also enhancing accessibility throughout the wider city centre.
The opening of The Octagon will bring city living to Paradise. In addition, a boutique hotel will provide visitors to Birmingham with a luxurious place to rest tired limbs. State-of-the-art workspaces will also create new opportunities for innovative organisations to become part of the thriving business community.
Paradise is not just a development; it has reinvigorated a neglected part of Birmingham, strengthening the connection between the city’s past and future, and creating a place of immense pride for everyone.
