Welcome to MEPC

By Rob Groves, Regional Development Director, MEPC

Paradise is having a hugely positive year.

Following on from the completion of Phase One, which includes our first two buildings, One Chamberlain Square and Two Chamberlain Square, along with all the new public realm around those buildings including the refurbished Chamberlain Square itself, we’ve moved forward with a number of important announcements.

Occupiers have continued to choose Paradise as their new home, including global law firm DLA Piper, accountancy firm Mazars, growing national law firm Knights, global consultancy Atkins and built environment consultancy Arup.

But as well as these new office occupiers, we have already welcomed two great new restaurants, Dishoom and Rosa’s Thai, and look forward to Vinoteca and Albert’s Schloss joining us shortly too.

A truly mixed use scheme that welcomes visitors right around the clock, all year round is being created here in the heart of Birmingham. But one move that has happened almost in the background in 2021 has been those of us behind the project going from being part of Argent to becoming part of MEPC – the national real estate group that excels at placemaking.

MEPC is part of Federated Hermes International – the people who have been investing in Paradise since it began in 2013. So, to now be part of the same group that has helped make the entire scheme happen is a great move. The fact MEPC is also celebrating its 75th anniversary this year couldn’t be more fitting.

The team behind Paradise hasn’t changed. But the new badge is a subtle but telling transition. The MEPC Birmingham team are now a one-stop shop who are asset managing as well as leading the development.

We’ve come a long way over the past eight years. But Paradise has an exciting future with lots more to come. We will complete Phase Two with two further cutting edge buildings and then move onto Phase Three, in the northern part of the site, that includes the 49 storey Octagon residential building.

All the time we are working to bring the best development to Birmingham we possibly can – not just in how the place looks and feels, but in the jobs, skills and opportunities it brings to the city of Birmingham and the wider region.

Now as part of the team at MEPC we will have an added agility to how we operate and bring the different elements of the Paradise masterplan forward to fruition.
