Coronation Celebrations

Paradise will be playing its part in marking the coronation of King Charles III this summer with events in and around Chamberlain Square and plenty of celebratory bunting out on our lampposts!

We will be entertaining people with a street party at Paradise on Thursday 4th May, from 11am onwards.

This family fun day will include live music from the Bluebird Belles band (a vocal harmony trio with a retro sound taking in music from the 1940s, 50s and 60s), street entertainment from the leaping guardsmen, and the comedic royal footmen who will engage with visitors throughout the day.

There will also be free ice cream giveaways and an abundance of coronation flags for people to take home.

On the coronation day itself, Saturday 6th May, you can be King or Queen for the day and take a picture in front of our selfie wall, or get yourself turned into a royal caricature by one of our artists who will be there from 11am-4pm.

Charles acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who had reigned for more than 70 years (the longest reign of any female monarch in history). It will be the 40th coronation held at Westminster Abbey since 1066 and the first of the 21st century (after four coronations in the 20th century).
