One Chamberlain Square was the first building completed at Paradise, its graceful curves and striking vertical fins setting the tone for the development.

Leading professional services firm PwC were one of the first to see the potential of Paradise, taking all 159,000 sq ft of office space in a landmark pre-let deal. This led to the creation of the largest UK regional office for the company, emphasising a commitment to regional investment and a desire to attract and retain the best talent in the city.

Handsome in every direction

The building was designed by Eric Parry, one of Britain’s most celebrated contemporary architects, who is renowned for delivering beautifully crafted and well-considered buildings.

The building’s organic form was designed to adapt to its 360-degree surroundings, creating a dynamic shape that interacts with the different urban conditions on each side. It conveys a sense of movement to the surrounding squares and streets and continuously changes depending on the daylight and the observer’s position.

The design also pays tribute to Birmingham’s Arts and Crafts Movement through a finely crafted bespoke white ceramic glaze, which also reflects the materials used in the construction of the nearby Town Hall.

A hive of activity

Two very different establishments occupy the ground floor, each bringing its distinct brand of life and vitality to Paradise. The wonderfully evocative interior of Dishoom transports visitors back in time to the heyday of Bombay’s Irani cafés, where people gathered to enjoy simple yet delicious comfort food. In contrast, neighbouring Albert’s Schloss is the decadent life and soul of the party, promising ‘an Alpine melting pot of revelry’ with live music and spectacular cabaret seven days a week. By the end of 2024, leading independent award-winning steakhouse Cow & Sow will also open its doors.
