Big Mamma Group Chooses Paradise

A new Italian restaurant from Big Mamma Group will arrive in Chamberlain Square at Paradise Birmingham later this year.

La Bellezza will occupy the lower ground floor of Two Chamberlain Square directly facing onto the square itself, in what is widely regarded as one of the most spectacular settings in the city.

The 4,800 sq ft Paradise restaurant will see the group opening in its second city in the UK. It also follows hot on the heels of another new restaurant announcement for Paradise, with steakhouse Cow & Sow arriving later this year at One Chamberlain Square.

Big Mamma is the team of 2,200 passionate people behind 26 unique restaurants in Europe – including Pink Mamma and the 4,500m2 food market La Felicità in Paris, Giacomo on Larvotto beach in Monaco, and their latest exciting venture in Italy itself, Gloria in Milan.

They work directly with 170 producers, constantly exploring new areas of Italian cuisine with each opening, from pizzas to excellent meats from across the boot. Each trattoria has its own ambience, and everything is homemade, from the fresh pasta to the creamy gelato.

La Bellezza will offer 100% homemade Italian dishes and incredible prodotti, such as juicy Puglian burrata from Salvatore Montrone and 22-month-aged Parmigiano Reggiano DOP from Paolo Gennari. Filled with warmth and generosity, this 150-cover trattoria will be set in abundant, dramatic scenery to live up to its namesake, complete with a whimsical 25-cover terrace.

Looking out across Birmingham’s prestigious listed Civic buildings and with a steady stream of passing pedestrian traffic, the location is second to none with a spacious interior and a landmark external presence.

Ross Fittall, commercial development director at Paradise Birmingham developer and asset manager, MEPC, said:

“Two Chamberlain Square has been a hugely successful part of Paradise with several established office occupiers bringing thousands of new jobs to the building. The fact it has now attracted another high-quality leisure operator in such a key location overlooking Chamberlain Square adds to its superb mix of office and leisure tenants while once again bringing an exciting new occupier for the people of Birmingham to enjoy.”

Big Mamma was founded in France in 2013 by Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger to offer authentic and generous Italian food at affordable prices, served with a big smile, in iconic locations.

It is the first hospitality group to receive B-CORP certification in 2018. The group is mission-driven to create a positive impact every day; committing to every action sustainably and responsibly.

Co-founders Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger, have commented:

“We are hugely excited to be coming to Birmingham, not only to be part of its incredibly vibrant restaurant community but to bring our superb Italian products, which we spent 3 years personally sourcing from small family-run artisans to another major European city.”

Graeme Wait acted for Big Mamma while Bruce Gillingham Pollard advised MEPC and Paradise on the letting.

Designed by Birmingham-based architects Howells, Two Chamberlain Square is a major commercial-led workspace with 183,000 sq ft of space, now fully let. It provides a distinctive backdrop to a wide range of activity and makes the ideal location for leisure operators, with Rosa’s Thai and F1®Arcade already established at the award-winning building and Yorks Bakery opening in just a few weeks.
